Think Cloud Design Lab is an architecture + design practice based in Kuala Lumpur founded in 2013 by partners Sharon Ong and Foo Wen Hui.

Ong Sharon [DIPID BSC HONS PDGIP ARCH (RGU) ARB RIBA LAM], British Chartered Architect, studied architecture at the Robert Gordon University. During her studies in Scotland she traveled extensively which cultivated her interest and talent in design. At the same time, Sharon also took part in architecture competitions and had won a number of student awards including The Best Student Award for MArch/ PgDip Advanced Architectural Studies Year 2007. Upon her graduation Sharon enjoyed living and working in London. Since then Sharon has completed a few private and social housing projects. In year 2009, she completed her Part 3 studies in Bartlett School of Architecture, London and received her professional architect’s qualification from the ARB/ RIBA. Upon returning to KL Sharon worked at C’Arch Architecture + Design during which she was involved in a number of large scale development projects and from which she developed passion in nuanced materiality and passive approaches to tropic buildings. Sharon also combines practice with teaching and is currently a design studio tutor at UCSI University.

Ar. Foo Wen Hui [MA HONS MARCH (EDIN) LAM PAM], Architect, studied architecture at the University of Edinburgh. During her time in the UK she interned at a few practices including Adjaye Associates in London where she was first amazed by the design culture and ‘discovered’ her passion in architecture. She also spent some meaningful time at Stills Gallery in Edinburgh learning and teaching projects in digital photography. Upon returning to Kuala Lumpur she joined C’Arch Architecture + Design where she experienced a wide range of project types especially high rise residential buildings. In search of a different kind of architecture that doesn’t involve reinforced concrete soaring into the sky during her spare time Wen Hui had been involved in the design and construction of a few community volunteer building projects in Malaysia and Thailand. While these experience are challenging and enjoyable they are valuable architecture skills as she self-proclaimed an advocate for the merits of vernacular tropical architecture.

We enjoy themakingof buildings & spaces, hence they hands-on explore materials and work hand-in-hand with local craftsmen. They endure cultural identity of living and individuality of each client & project.

Think Cloud engages creative design through open studio culture, internally; and promote collaboration work and share learning opportunity, externally. The duo believe that to learn and innovate from basic detailing leads to good design that stand the test of time – OLD SCHOOL WITH A TWIST

Secretly . . .    We have a romantic idea of An architect is the drawer of dreams(Grace Mc Garvie). As architects + designers they are optimistic people who see a better and more beautiful future in their drawings and they make them come true. They take opportunity to inject creativity into everyday design – SOME FUN – which they call them the new black! And what really drives them nuts is the regional natural resources and craftsmanship, which leads them to pursue application of materials with honesty, admire their originality and detail them with skill and finesse to be able to last.
